Resent photos taken of volunteers and staff where The Mainstream Connection participated!

An Appreciation Dinner Program was held recently for volunteers that assisted HABC with tax return day held earlier this year. Ruth Tijerina, Program Director for The Mainstream Connection was the recipient of a door prize, presented by Rev. Mia Wright, Fountain of Praise Church;  alongside is another volunteer who also gave of her time in assisting HABC with tax returns.

Below are pictures of bread and pastries that are distributed to the community almost daily.  Don’t forget, bread distribution is usually Monday thru Thursday, (except holidays), 10:30 a.m. – 12 noon.  Or you may call 713-291-2202 for information regarding bread pick up. YES, it’s FREE!

The Mainstream Connection is also in the process of remodeling the bread distribution area and the food pantry.  Any donations towards this project is very appreciated. To donate, please go to PayPal.  THANK YOU!

 "Smoke Free Walk a Success!

On June 3, 2006, the first ever “3K Walk for a Smoke Free Houston 2006” occurred at Spotts Park in the Houston Heights area. It was a smashing success! The turnout was EXCELLENT, the day beautiful and the message powerful! Thank you for putting a foot forward to support a smoke free Houston!"

On June 26, 2006 community leaders met with Chief Hurtt to discuss what can be done to reduce criminal activity in our communities.  If you would like to make any suggestions of speak with the Houston Police Department as a concerned citizen, please call 713-308-1620 and speak with Mr. Zapata.

Below:  Mr. V. Treviño speaks to the group about how "we" as concerned community leaders can help the HPD department report crime effectively to their office in order to have safer neighborhoods.

If you are interested in taking Basic Computer Training Classes, please let us know!  We’re taking suggestions and want your input.  Would you prefer daytime or evening classes?  Tuesday or Thursday, Monday or Friday?  Let us know!  The class will cover basic computer equipment and software, there may be a nominal fee per student.
